Frank’s Board Early Access terms
These proportionate terms apply while Frank’s Board is offered as an Early Access web service.
Programme and technology
Frank’s Board is a programme of Word Fest CIC, company number 16947660. Word Fest CIC operates the programme for community benefit. The technology behind Frank’s Board was created and is owned by RareEdge Ltd and is made available for the Frank’s Board programme.
Purpose
Frank’s Board helps trusted family members and carers share simple day, event and reassurance information with a person using a paired display. It is not a medical device, monitoring service or emergency service.
Free service
Frank’s Board is free forever for personal and family use. These Terms do not create any subscription, paid tier or trial for ordinary family users.
Businesses, charities, care providers and other organisations do not receive organisational access by registering for the personal and family service. Organisations may send an enquiry, but there is no current organisational offer, trial, price or entitlement.
Any donation to Word Fest CIC is voluntary. A donation does not unlock functionality, affect eligibility or create organisational access.
Your responsibilities
Keep your account secure, invite only trusted people, provide accurate information and only add information or photographs you are entitled to share. Do not use the service unlawfully, abusively or in a way that risks another person’s privacy or safety.
Family permissions
Board Owners manage recipient identity, invitations, devices and privacy requests. Family and Carer roles can manage established board content. You are responsible for choosing suitable people and removing access when it is no longer appropriate.
Early Access and availability
The service is still being improved. Features may change and interruptions may occur. Do not rely on Frank’s Board for urgent, safety-critical or medical communication. Use normal emergency and care arrangements where needed.
Suspension and closure
The operator may suspend a board to protect people, investigate misuse, maintain security or operate the service. Owners may request board closure and deletion, normally subject to a seven-day cooling-off period. Suspension preserves data; completed deletion removes board data according to the Privacy Notice.
RareEdge intellectual property
Except for user-supplied content, the technology and original materials behind Frank’s Board, including its software and source code, application and interface design, branding, logos, original illustrations, documentation, guidance, website content and written material, are owned by or licensed to RareEdge Ltd. They are made available for the Frank’s Board programme. You may use the service for its intended personal and family purpose, but ownership of that intellectual property is not transferred to you.
Except where applicable law expressly permits, you must not copy or reproduce substantial parts of the service, republish RareEdge materials as your own, commercially exploit, repackage or resell the service or its materials, remove ownership or copyright notices, or falsely claim ownership of Frank’s Board materials. This does not claim ownership of the general idea of a day board, orientation display or family communication tool.
Your content
You retain any rights you hold in content you create or upload, including family and profile photographs, messages, calendar and event information and other family content. Word Fest CIC and RareEdge Ltd do not acquire ownership of that content merely because it is uploaded to Frank’s Board. You grant the Frank’s Board programme operator and its technology and service providers only the limited permission needed to store, process, transmit and display that content for the purpose of operating and providing Frank’s Board.
This permission does not allow Word Fest CIC, RareEdge Ltd or another service provider to sell family content, use private photographs for advertising, train unrelated systems on private family content, commercially exploit messages or publish private Board information.
Liability and changes
The service is provided with reasonable care for its stated purpose, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Liability wording and the full terms should receive solicitor review before broad public launch. Material changes create a new version for acknowledgement.
